The mud sucks out
of the ground and up
between toes, down
over the foot in
the middle of the rice paddy.
A farmer looks up,
angry threats rain down.
The foot runs out,
as the blood flukes seep in
and drink to their good fortune.

this is fab. I love it -- except for maniacally. that reads as "western," while the rest feels more like a Chinese painting. ...laughing at their good fortune is so Asian-feeling. I don't know. I just prefer it w/o that word -- which is an adverb, a telling. But you are the goddess of this poem...my 2 pence.
Loved this, especially the more tactile description such as the mud between the toes. Beautiful!
